Polarn Pattern

Polar pattern

The Sandhill 6011A figure of eight - polar pattern is symmetrical on a large frequency range. For this reason the microphone hears the stray field in a very musical way and the dynamics of the recorded media can be compressed effectively while the tone and the transients stay in a good balance. A thing worth mentioning is that the microphone is nearly deaf to the sound coming from the sides on the critical transient range. This feature combined with the high SPL-headroom allows the microphone to be used safely in most close-miking situations.

The 6011A is a precision weapon when looking for a big snare sound- the attack of the snare is huge and  the hi-hat doesn't mess things up. Many sound engineers have found the 6011A to be very practical in both close and ambient miking of a drum set.
